World War Won is Dav Pilkey's first book, which he made at a young age.
Plot[]
The book begins with introducing two Kings who bicker and quarrel. They loathe each other and command their people not to cross the borders of each other's land. However, the raccoon suggests there be only one King, and the fox agrees, on one condition: He is the King. The raccoon wants to be the King, and they start a nuclear war against each other, creating a giant stack of nuclear weapons in the process.
Everyone watches as the gigantic pile of weapons piles miles high, and nobody can do anything about it but watch. The animals fear that if it falls down, it will blow up upon them all and kill them. Meanwhile, the two kings worry the same thing. The animals below decide to call wise old bear, who devises a plan. The next day is winter, so they, in this order:
- Use Mice to bite through ice
- Use Elephants to store the water in their trunks
- Send the Elephants to the towers
- Make the elephants shoot the towers
- The towers freeze
- The beavers free the kings from the perch
- They carry the nuclear weapons into Icicle Springs
The Kings learned their lesson and learn from the bear they have to be kind to each other. They continued ruling and stopped their nuclear war, ending the book with peace coming to their lands.
Trivia[]
- After the publication of "World War Won", Dav traveled around the country doing author visits so he could avoid getting a real job. To this day, Dav still doesn't have a real job.
- This book was on Dav Pilkey's site as an exclusive one time, It went out of print in 2002.
